Northwest Missouri State's 28-game win streak was snapped Thursday night in an 84-82 overtime loss to Washburn.
Trevor Hudgins forced the extra period hitting three free throws with one-tenth of a second remaining in regulation, but the junior guard just missed a contested three-point attempt to win it at the end of overtime.
The Bearcats (5-1) suffered their worst shooting night of the season, 42.1-percent, while also going 22-34 at the free throw line with tough misses down the stretch of the second half.
Sophomore Wes Dreamer gave Northwest a burst offensively scoring a team-high 24 points. During one stretch early in the second half, Dreamer scored 13 of 15 points to keep the 'Cats afloat.
Later in the game trailing 55-48, Diego Bernard carried the team scoring nine straight Northwest points to tie it up 57-57.
Bernard ended the game with 19 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Northwest is home once again Saturday afternoon for a 2pm game with Emporia State. Pregame on KXCV-KRNW starts at 1:30pm.
